This patient presented with old veneers, a challenging bite, and significant gum recession. When her veneers were initially placed, the gums were intact, but over time, they receded. The pronounced recession was due to a heavy bite on the front teeth, leading to traumatic occlusion. The excessive pressure pushed the teeth forward, ultimately causing the bone and gum to recede.
In restoring this case, we took a comprehensive approach to address her lower teeth, bite alignment, and gum recession. We closed the black triangles caused by the recession and enhanced the ceramic to achieve a more natural and lifelike appearance. By balancing her bite, we significantly reduced the risk of further recession, ensuring a healthier and more stable long-term outcome.
